Over the past three decades, we have shipped thousands of lion statues to clients across Europe and North America. In this article, we share five real garden design projects from our international clients – showcasing how lion statues can transform outdoor spaces into extraordinary landscapes.
1. The Tuscan Villa Entrance – Italy
One of our most memorable projects involved a client from Tuscany who wanted to recreate the grandeur of a Medici-era estate. We supplied a pair of life-size white marble lions (150cm tall) in the classic seated pose, inspired by the original Medici Lions of Florence.
The lions were positioned on either side of a stone staircase leading to the villa entrance, framed by cypress trees and lavender hedges. The result is a timeless European aesthetic that transports visitors to the Italian Renaissance.
2. The Connecticut Estate – United States
A client in Greenwich, Connecticut commissioned a pair of bronze walking lions (180cm long) for their 5-acre property. The dynamic, mid-stride pose creates a sense of forward movement along the driveway approach.
The bronze patina was customized to develop a rich brown-green verdigris over time, blending naturally with the mature trees and stone walls of this New England estate.
3. The English Country Garden – United Kingdom
For a historic property in the Cotswolds, we created a pair of reclining marble lions on pedestals (120cm each) positioned at the entrance to a formal rose garden. The marble was selected with a slightly aged finish to complement the weathered Cotswold stone of the property.
4. The French Riviera Terrace – France
A villa overlooking the Mediterranean in Saint-Tropez required lion statues that could withstand the coastal salt air. We supplied a pair of bronze Foo Dog statues (100cm tall) with a marine-grade protective coating.
5. The Australian Courtyard – Australia
A client in Melbourne commissioned a single large marble lion head sculpture (80cm diameter) as a wall fountain feature in their courtyard. Water cascades from the lion”s mouth into a rectangular reflecting pool below.
